Kaniyo-Pabidi situated in the North Eastern part of Budongo Forest Reserve. It has 449 of species of tree are growing in this forest. This area is home of a variety of species like Mahogany and Celtic Family.Some of the trees are known to poses medicinal qualities. 400 years old Mahogany tree, the oldest Mahogany in Africa is growing in this forest.
It is a natural habitat of about 120 Chimpanzees. However only one group consisting of about 30 chimpanzees has have been fully habituated for Eco-Tourism purposes. There are also other primate species such as black and white colobus monkey, red-tailed monkey, blue monkey, vervet monkey and baboons. Iron wood tree is one of the trees growing at the climax stage in the forest development in Budongo area. You could hear the sound of drumming by chimpanzees.
Attractions: Kaniyo – Pabidi a natural habitat of about 120 Chimpanzees, species of Black and White Colobus Monkey, the Red - Tailed Monkey, Blue Monkey, Vervet Monkey and Baboons, Savannah grassland Species, wild animals, Bird life, variety of tree species Butterflies, Moths and Tropical Flowers.
Activities: include Chimp Tracking, Bird Watching, Forest Walks, Conservation Education, Chimp Habituation and Camping.
Accommodation; Accommodation at Kaniyo – Pabidi consists of mainly Camping Facilities. However, the Jane Goodall Institute is in the process of completing modern Tourist Cabins and Banda's to be ready by mid – 2007. Boomu Conservation and Crafts Women’s Association operates simple Accommodation Banda's near the Park Entry Gate.
