The Semliki Wildlife Reserve, formerly the Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve is a conservation protected area in western Uganda. It is located on the rift valley floor where Lake Albert, the Rwenzori Mountains and the Kijura escarpment create backdrops.First established in 1929, Toro portion of the reserve is one of the oldest protected areas in Uganda.

The Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve is the oldest protected natural area in Uganda, having first been set aside in 1926. Once one of the best-stocked and most popular wildlife parks in East Africa, it suffered significant poaching during the civil war years and after the war with Tanzania.

You may encounter water buck, reed bucks, bush buck, chimpanzees, pygmy hippo, buffaloes, leopard, elephants and hyenas. A number of lions have also recently returned to the reserve, most likely refugees from the conflict in the DRC.
