Uganda’s two Parks which protect the rare endangered Mountain gorillas are; BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FORESTS NATIONAL PARK with over 500 Mountain gorillas with 14 habituated gorilla families which makes it the most ideal national park in the world and it resides the largest number of Mountain gorillas in the world.

MGAHINGA GORILLA NATIONAL PARK is another Park in Uganda which keeps these rare endangered primates and it inhabits over 100 gorillas with one habituated gorilla family called Nyakagezi gorilla family.

Gorilla tracking in BWINDI is done from four sectors such as; Buhoma with three gorilla families (Mubare, Habinyanja and Rushegura), Rushaga with seven gorilla families (Bweza, Nshongi, Bikingi, Bushaho, Kahungye, Busingye and Mishaya), Ruhija with three families (Oruzogo, Kyaguriro and Bitukura) and Nkuringo with one family called Nkuringo family.

Gorilla trekking starts with briefings which begins at 07:00am and then go for trekking after being briefed of which the trekking will begin at around 08:00am in groups of 8 individuals per group.

Gorilla trekking has some rules and regulations which trekkers have to follow such; spend only one hour with the gorillas, keep a distance of at least 8 meters while viewing them, do not litter in the Park, be calm and maintain maximum silence while trekking them.
